A man was struck by a car and seriously injured in an early morning accident Wednesday on Route 110 in Melville, police said.

The identity of the man was not released.

Suffolk County police said the accident occurred at 2:26 a.m. near the Gossip Bar & Restaurant and that the man was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow with "multiple fractures."

The accident closed Route 110 between Ruland and Spagnoli roads. The road reopened just before 7 p.m.

Police said the pedestrian was struck by a 2007 Honda Accord driven by a woman -- and said no charges were filed.

The investigation into the accident was continuing.
