Man found in vehicle in Bay Shore shot self in leg, cops say

A man is recovering at Southside Hospital after Suffolk County police said they found him with a gunshot wound in Bay Shore on Friday.

A police spokesman said officers saw the man in a vehicle on Union Boulevard in Bay Shore about 5:25 p.m. The man appeared to have shot himself in the leg, the spokesman said.

He was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with non-life-threatening injuries. The spokesman said Third Squad detectives were investigating.
