Man wounded in Wyandanch shooting
Suffolk police responding to a ShotSpotter alert in Wyandanch Saturday night found a man with a gunshot wound in a parking lot of the VFW Hall at 28 William St.
Officers arriving at the lot at 11:55 p.m. after the ShotSpotter alert, found William Ballard, 34, of Wyandanch, had been shot, police said.
Ballard was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where police said he is listed in stable condition.
Police ask anyone with any information on the shooting to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. Calls will be kept confidential.
