Manorville man crashes into dental office, police say

A Manorville man was injured when he swerved to avoid something in the roadway and crashed into a dental office in Miller Place Thursday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
The 59-year-old man, whose name was not released, was driving a 2011 Subaru four-door sedan when it crashed into the dental office at 242 North Country Rd. at about 5 p.m., police said. The office, which is inside a house, was occupied, but no one was in the room that the car crashed into, police said.
The building was severely damaged and left with a gaping hole, police said. No one inside was injured.
The driver was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.
The Brookhaven building inspector is investigating, police said.
