Suffolk police Thursday were looking for a Jamesport man they said set fire to his girlfriend's Brentwood apartment, then struck an officer with a Chevrolet pickup as he drove away.

Manuel DeLeon Cuellar, 24, is about 5-foot-9 and 175 pounds with brown eyes, black hair and a beard. He may be armed with a knife and was last seen wearing a black jacket and white-checked shirt, police said.

Cuellar broke into his girlfriend's Westwood Drive apartment about 2 a.m., assaulted her and set fire to her apartment, police said.

As Cuellar fled, police said, he struck a responding Third Precinct police officer with the pickup.

Cuellar crashed the truck a short distance from the apartment and ran away.

Cuellar's girlfriend and the police officer were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Detectives said anyone with information on Cuellar's location can call 911, Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477 or the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
