A bicyclist was killed after being struck by an SUV on Mastic Road in Mastic on Saturday night, Suffolk County police said.

The rider of the bike, a male who has not yet been identified by police pending notification of next of kin, was headed south near Dover Avenue around 9:40 p.m. when he was struck by a 2019 Kia driving in the same direction, according to a news release. The bicyclist was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the Kia was not injured and the SUV was impounded for a safety check, police said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
