A Mastic woman was found stabbed to death in her apartment early Friday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

Laura Pizzini, 25, was discovered dead in her Neptune Avenue apartment by a relative who arrived about 12:35 p.m. to check on her welfare, said Det. Lt. Jack Fitzpatrick of the Suffolk County Homicide Squad.

"We have a lot more questions than we have answers," he said. "We're looking to find out what her movements were in the last couple of days."

Pizzini lived alone and there was no sign of forced entry. It was unclear when she was last seen alive, Fitzpatrick said.

Neighbors said she'd lived there for less than a year. "You'd see her jogging up and down the block sometimes," said Brooke Algie, who lives nearby.

Pizzini worked at Forge River Nursery and Garden Center on Montauk Highway in Mastic, police said.
