A man arguing with his roommate in Mattituck was arrested on charges of criminal mischief after she ripped the phone out of the wall, Southold Town police said.

Around 10:39 p.m. Thursday, a 47-year-old woman was arguing with Guadalupe Mendez. The woman tried to call 911 and Mendez, 27, ripped the phone out to prevent her from calling out and damaged the wall, police said.

Mendez was arraigned Friday and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court March 19.
