A Medford home with numerous housing violations dating back several years was torn down by Brookhaven Town on Tuesday.

Officials demolished the Carr Lane home under Chapter 73 of the Town Code which provides a “fast track” to rid neighborhoods of unsafe structures.

The house was the source of many residential complaints and was cited in 2006 for an illegal apartment and property maintenance. It also sustained fire damage in 2010.

Costs of clearing and grading the property will be added to the homeowner’s tax bill.

“This dangerous eyesore was in a nice neighborhood where people take care of their homes and property. A house like this has such a detrimental impact on everyone in the neighborhood,” Brookhaven Town Councilman Michael Loguercio said in a statement.
