Two medical emergencies -- one on a train out of Port Washington, the other from Ronkonkoma -- delayed several trains Friday morning on the Long Island Rail Road, officials said.

The 8:18 a.m. train from Port Washington, scheduled to arrive in Penn Station at 9:17 a.m., was held almost 40 minutes at Flushing-Main Street because of a medical emergency, LIRR spokesman Sal Arena said.

The nature of the emergency was not immediately clear, but Arena said the crew requested EMS to respond to the scene.

That emergency delayed that train 38 minutes and held up at least three other trains for less time, mostly because westbound trains had to run on the eastbound track through the area.

The 8:45 a.m. and 8:52 a.m. trains were both 11 minutes late. The 8:38 a.m. train from Great Neck also was affected.

Officials said that a second medical emergency forced a Ronkonkoma train to be held at Woodside. That train was running 13 minutes late.
