Long Island's biggest jackpot winner ever will just have to wait until next year.
The holder of the Mega Millions lottery ticket worth $208 million did not come forward before the close of Friday's business day, New York Lottery spokeswoman Christy Calicchia said.
The winning ticket in Tuesday's Mega Millions was sold at the King Kullen supermarket in Middle Island.
The winner's next chance to come forward at one of New York Lottery's customer service centers will be Tuesday morning, after the long holiday weekend, Calicchia said.
The winner must go to one of the centers to claim the prize, she said. The only center on Long Island is in Garden City.
The ticket was sold about 2 p.m. Monday, according to Lois Meyers, a bookkeeper at the supermarket. It bears Mega numbers 23, 32, 33, 39, 43 and a Mega Ball of 8.
