A Melville man died Thursday after his car crashed into a tree about 2 miles from his home, Suffolk police said.

Sidney Stein, 82, was in his Lexus going north on Bagatelle Road when he likely suffered a medical crisis about 3:35 p.m. and lost control of his car, police said.

The Lexus crossed over into the southbound lane and hit a tree just north of Hemingway Drive, police said.

Stein was taken to Plainview Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

His car was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing, police said.
