Men force way into Deer Park home
Two men in ski masks broke into a Deer Park home Monday night, stealing jewelry and assaulting a man in the home, Suffolk County police said.
According to First Squad detectives, the two men knocked on the door of a house on West 21st Street at about 7 p.m. When a 45-year-old man who lives at the home answered the door, the two men pushed their way in. A confrontation ensued, and the man suffered a cut to his head.
One of the intruders was armed with a silver handgun, police said.
The two men stole jewelry and fled. Police did not say how much the jewelry was worth.
The injured man was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for what police said were nonlife-threatening injuries. No one else was home during the burglary, police said.
