Middle Country school district
VOTING

THE BUDGET
The district proposes a $235,809,197 budget for 2015-16, a 1.63 percent increase from the current $232,035,973. The local tax levy would rise 1.7 percent, from $131,367,097 to $133,599,992.
This increase is within the state's tax-cap limit of 1.75 percent, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget. School taxes on the average single-family home would rise 1.7 percent, from $5,482.39 to $5,575.57. The proposed budget funds a 1 percent contractual salary increase for teachers and an approximate 2 percent to 3 percent step increase.
The spending plan includes the addition of one full-day prekindergarten classroom and an enrollment-driven reduction of three full-time employees.
