As identical twins, Stephanie and Elizabeth Becker share a lot of special moments together. On Friday night, the pair added another milestone to the list: junior prom.
The twins, along with 172 Miller Place High School classmates, arrived at Sunset Harbour in East Patchogue for the junior prom via coach bus as a more affordable alternative to limousines.
“This is the first time we’ve ever gone all out,” Stephanie said, referring to their formal attire. She and her sister, both juniors at Miller Place High School, wore jewel-colored gowns with their short curls pinned back by sparkly barrettes.
Elizabeth tried on a slew of dresses before opting for a purple one.
“It was so annoying,” she said.
For Stephanie, selecting her red gown came much easier.
“I knew the minute I saw it,” she said.
The sisters, who share classes, said teachers sometimes get them mixed up and call them by the wrong name. But their friend Julianna Rose, who sat with them at one table, said each has unique qualities.
“Lizzy is more artistic,” Julianna said. “Stephanie is more outgoing and social.”
“But, I’m everybody’s favorite,” Stephanie joked.
The highlight of the night, the girls agreed, would be the food since they didn’t plan on hitting the dance floor.
But they didn’t stick by that sentiment for long. After dinner, they kicked off their heels and showed off some moves.
Said Elizabeth: “The best part of having a twin is always having your best friend by your side.”
