A 42-year-old man was seriously injured when he was struck by a minivan while attempting to cross Johnson Avenue on Wednesday night in Bohemia, police said.

The accident occurred just south of Veterans Memorial Highway at 9:45 p.m., Suffolk County police said.

The pedestrian was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with what police called “a serious head injury.” Police have not released his identity, pending notification of next of kin.

Police said the man was crossing Johnson Avenue when he was struck by the southbound 2014 Dodge Caravan, driven by Vernon Weston, 68, of Islip. Police said Weston remained at the scene — and there is no criminality suspected.
