An autistic Tuckahoe man, missing since he stripped his clothes off and ran into a wooded area in Shinnecock Hills Saturday night, was found Sunday afternoon sleeping in a nearby hotel that was closed for the offseason, police said.

Jacob Goldfarb, 22, who is described as "high-functioning," was transported to Southampton Hospital for medical evaluation after being located by volunteers from the North Sea Fire Department at 1:40 p.m., Southampton Town police said.

Goldfarb had disappeared at 7:39 p.m. Saturday, Southampton police spokesman Sgt. Howard Kalb said. Investigators found his car abandoned -- and later police said a search by town police and a state police canine unit found his clothing behind a local residence.

A Suffolk County police aviation unit, volunteers from the North Sea and Southampton fire departments and Stony Brook University police all joined Southampton police in the search Saturday and that search was expanded Sunday to include Southampton Town bay constables, MTA police, tribal security from the Shinnecock Indian Nation, the Hampton Bays Fire Department and the Flanders-Northampton Ambulance Woodland Rescue Team.

More than 100 searchers were involved, police said.

Police said volunteers from the North Sea Fire Department finally located Goldfarb Sunday afternoon sleeping inside an area of the Bentley Hotel that was under renovation.

Police said the incident remains under investigation.
