Missing woman found dead off Montauk Point
A 39-year-old woman was found dead Sunday morning in the Atlantic Ocean after falling off a recreational boat during the night, Coast Guard officials said.
The woman, who has not yet been identified, was found a little after 11:30 a.m. about three nautical miles south of Montauk Point.
She was reported missing in the Block Island Sound at about midnight on Sunday, about two and a half miles off Montauk Point.
Coast Guard officials do not think the woman was wearing a life vest. She was on the boat with another person. Her relationship to that person was not immediately clear, Coast Guard officials said.
East Hampton Police are investigating the incident.
