A motorcyclist was seriously injured Monday night when he lost control and slammed into a vehicle in East Islip, Suffolk County police said.

Brendan Patton, 33, was on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle going west on Main Street when he reached the intersection with Fern Place and struck a BMW stopped at a stop sign there, police said. It happened about 6 p.m., near Fern Place, police said.

Patton of West Islip was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, authorities said, but the BMW driver was not injured.

Police said both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and Third Precinct detectives asking anyone with information to call them at 631-854-8352.
