A biker was thrown off his motorcycle and seriously hurt his left leg Sunday morning after being struck by a Jeep in East Northport, Suffolk County police said.

The accident happened at about 10 a.m. when the motorcycle, driven by the eastbound biker, Dennis Butler, 57, was hit on Jericho Turnpike by a westbound Jeep driver that was trying to make a left into a shopping center near Larkfield Road, police said.

The Jeep driver, Demetra Koutoulas, 67, of Kings Park, was en route to a nearby Stop & Shop supermarket, said the Second Squad's Det. Sgt. Steven Bluethgen.

Bluethgen said no criminal charges were expected. He said the Jeep driver should have yielded to the biker.

Butler, of Deer Park, suffered a serious leg injury and was flown by police chopper to Stony Brook University Medical Center, police said.

The Jeep driver was unhurt, police said.
