Motorcyclist, 2 others injured in Melville crash

A motorcyclist from Brentwood was seriously injured Saturday night after his cycle collided with a vehicle making a left turn in Melville, Suffolk County police said Sunday.
Police said John Grant, 22, was riding a 1992 Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on Pinelawn Road about 11:15 p.m. when the motorcycle collided with a 1999 Volkswagen driven by Dwight Bogle.
Bogle, 42, of North Amityville, had been traveling north on Pinelawn Road and was trying to make a left-hand turn into the Newsday parking lot at the time of the crash, police said.
Grant who had head injuries, a broken pelvis and other life-threatening injuries, was taken to North Shore-LIJ Hospital in Plainview, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.
Bogle and his passenger, Raquel Bogle, 43, also were taken to North Shore-LIJ Hospital in Plainview for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
Police impounded both vehicles for safety inspections and an investigation. Police ask anyone who may have seen the crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252. Calls will be kept confidential.
