Cesar Adragna, 51, was riding his 2006 Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on the LIE roughly a half-mile west of Exit 55 at 12:40 a.m. when he sideswiped a 1999 Kia Sport and crashed into the rear of a 2006 Honda CR-V, Suffolk County police said.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the Honda, driven by John Lomando, 42, of Miller Place was slowing down as a result of a road closure. Adragna was apparently unable decelerate in time and crashed into the rear of the car.

Adragna was taken by helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center where he was listed in serious condition. Lomando and the driver of the Kia, who was not identified, were not injured.
