A 27-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured in a Tuesday night crash with a car in Miller Place, police said.

The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released.

Suffolk County police said the rider was a man who was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center with undisclosed critical injuries via ambulance from Miller Place Rescue.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Route 25A and Oakland Avenue at 9:10 p.m., police said.

Police said the car, driven by a 50-year-old woman, was headed westbound on Route 25A. The motorcyclist was headed eastbound, police said.

It was not immediately clear how the crash occurred, but police said there was "no apparent criminality involved."

The female driver, whose identity also was not released, was taken to J.T. Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, where she was treated and released.
