A speeding motorcyclist was killed Monday night when, police said, he crashed into a truck on Sunrise Highway in North Babylon, was ejected from his bike and run over by a driver who did not stop.

Yannis F. Valencia, 28, of Glenmore Avenue, Brentwood, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead, Suffolk County police said.

The driver of the 2003 International flatbed tow truck that Valencia struck was identified by police as Ricardo Carter, 54, of Brentwood; he was not injured.

Police are searching for the driver who did not stop. That vehicle is described as a small sport utility vehicle.

Police said the fatal crash occurred shortly after 7 p.m. when Valencia, driving a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on Sunrise, attempted to change lanes at "a high rate of speed" -- only to crash into the rear of the flatbed tow truck.

Valencia was ejected from the motorcycle, police said, then was struck by the eastbound SUV that did not stop.

The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check and the truck was examined at the scene by the Suffolk police Motor Carrier Safety Unit.

Police are searching for the driver who fled the scene and are asking anyone with information to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
