A 51-year-old man was critically injured after crashing his motorcycle into a SUV in East Northport on Saturday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

Police said the motorcyclist, who was not identified, was riding a 1998 BMW motorcycle westbound on Clay Pitts Road, when he collided with a 2005 Toyota SUV attempting to make a left turn from eastbound Clay Pitts Road, onto northbound Oakledge Drive. The crash occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m., cops said.

The motorcyclist, from East Northport, was airlifted to a hospital in a Suffolk County police helicopter. The SUV driver, Joseph Pavone, 56, of Smithtown, was treated for minor injuries at Huntington Hospital, police said.

Both the motorcycle and Toyota SUV were impounded for safety checks, police said.
