Motorcyclist hurt in Centereach collision
A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a car in Centereach Wednesday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
Thomas Altruda, 67, of Middle Island Boulevard, Middle Island, the operator of the 2006 Harley-Davidson, was admitted to Stony Brook University Medical Center, police said.
Nicholas Sumrall, 22, of Hawthorne Street, Mastic, the driver of the car, a 2005 Suzuki Firenza, was treated at the medical center for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Altruda was traveling westbound on Middle Country Road at 1:35 p.m., when he collided with the Firenza at the intersection of Smithtown Polk Boulevard, police said.
Sixth Squad detectives, who are conducting the investigation have not filed any charges in the crash and asked that anyone with information concerning the accident call them at 631-854-8652, or at CrimeStoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
