A Huntington Station motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday afternoon after he was struck by an SUV in the hamlet, Suffolk County police said.

Mike Guiteau, 21, was riding a Yamaha motorcycle southbound on West Hills Road when a GMC Jimmy traveling westbound on West 21st Street collided with him in the intersection at about 1 p.m., police said.

Guiteau was taken by ambulance to Huntington Hospital, where he is in serious condition, police said.

The SUV's driver, William Bailey, 56, of Huntington, had stopped at the stop sign at the intersection before he struck Guiteau on his motorcycle, police said. Police said the motorcyclist did not have a stop sign.

Bailey was not injured, police said.

He had not been charged in the crash as of Sunday afternoon.

Both the motorcycle and the SUV were impounded for safety checks.

Detectives on Sunday asked that anyone who witnessed the crash call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
