Motorcyclist injured in 3-vehicle crash

Third Squad detectives are investigating a three-vehicle crash on the Sunrise Highway in Islip late Sunday that resulted in "serious injuries" to a motorcyclist, a Suffolk County police spokeswoman said.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center, the spokeswoman said, but she had no specific information on his injuries other than to call them serious.

The collision happened at 8:40 p.m., in westbound traffic, about 200 feet east of Exit 46, Route 111, the spokeswoman said.
