Third Squad detectives are investigating a crash Tuesday morning that killed a motorcyclist in Central Islip, Suffolk County police said.

The identity of the motorcyclist is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin, police said.

Trent Wiggan, 19, was driving a 2008 Honda Accord westbound on Suffolk Avenue when he attempted to make a U-turn east of Brentwood Parkway at approximately 4:20 a.m., police said.

The motorcyclist, operating a 1991 Honda westbound on Suffolk Avenue, collided with Wiggan's vehicle, police said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he died of his injuries a short time later.

Wiggan, of Central Islip, and his passenger also were transported to Southside Hospital with minor injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. The investigation is continuing.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
