Motorcyclist killed in crash with SUV in Medford

A motorcyclist died Friday after the motorcycle he was operating collided with a sport utility vehicle in Medford, Suffolk police said.
Daniel Hofer, 27, of Islandia, was pronounced dead at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue at 4:02 p.m., police said.
Estelle Careccia, 59, of Medford, the operator of the SUV, was treated at the same hospital for a shoulder injury, police said.
Hofer was driving a 2004 Honda motorcycle west on Express Drive North at 3:15 p.m., police said, when he collided with Careccia's 2008 Mazda CX7 at the intersection of Old Medford Avenue, police said.
Police are investigating the crash.
