A motorcyclist was killed early Monday after police said he failed to negotiate a curve on West Main Street, Route 25A, in Huntington and crashed into a pole.

Benjamin Koche, 23, of Centerport, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

Suffolk County police said the accident was reported in a 911 call at 4:11 a.m. The caller reported "a man laying on a front lawn" next to the motorcycle.

The crash briefly closed Route 25A between Quaker Path and Nathan Hale Drive.

Police urge anyone with information about the accident to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
