Motorcyclist seriously hurt in Babylon crash, cops say

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Thursday when he lost control and struck a tree in Babylon, Suffolk County police said.
Michael Funchus, 42, of North Babylon, was operating his 2014 Kawasaki Ninja east on Simon Street about 12:10 p.m. when his motorcycle left the road and hit the tree, police said.
He was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was in serious condition with head and neck injuries, police said.
First Squad detectives are investigating the accident and urge anyone who witnessed it and have not been interviewed to call them at 631-854-8152.
