Motorcyclist James Barter, 52, of Centereach, was seriously injured when his bike collided with a Jeep in Selden, Suffolk County police said. A motorcyclist from Centereach was seriously injured Saturday night in a crash in Selden, Suffolk County police said.

James Barter, 52, was riding a 2013 Harley-Davidson west on Middle Country Road near Boyle Road about 9:15 p.m. when his motorcycle collided with a 2013 Jeep Liberty that was making a left turn onto Boyle from the eastbound lanes of Middle Country Road, police said.

Barter, whose motorcycle overturned, was seriously injured, and the Jeep driver, Alfred Versandi, 52, of Selden, had minor injuries, police said. Both men were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks, and police are investigating. Police ask anyone with information about the collision to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
