A motorcyclist was seriously injured Tuesday night after he collided with a tractor-trailer that was turning into a Holtsville nursery, Suffolk police said.

Police said the man driving the tractor-trailer was heading west on Long Island Avenue and was preparing to turn right into Bissett Nursery at 8:05 p.m. The driver swung the trailer to the left before making the turn, and a motorcyclist who was also heading west behind him collided with the back of the trailer, police said.

The man was thrown off the motorcycle, and the motorcycle was dragged into the driveway with the tractor-trailer, where it then went up in flames, police said.

The motorcyclist suffered serious lower body injuries and was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital by ambulance, police said.

Police said there appears to be no criminality in the crash.
