A motorcyclist was seriously injured Saturday night in a crash in Shirley, police said.

Richard Vilk, 48, of Yaphank, was driving his 2003 Harley-Davidson west on Crestwood Drive when he crashed into a 2006 Nissan Frontier about 5:20 p.m., Suffolk County police said in a news release.

Vilk was taken by a Suffolk County police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated for his injuries, police said. The other driver was not hurt.

Police impounded both vehicles for safety checks. Anyone with information can call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
