A motorcyclist was seriously injured in Medford on Thursday afternoon after colliding with a 2000 Honda, according to Suffolk police.

The motorcyclist, 20, driving a 2015 Yamaha, was traveling north on County Road 101 at about 3:40 p.m., when he struck the car.

The Honda was headed south, and its driver, Carolina Carrion-Maura, 22, of Patchogue, was trying to turn left onto Harrison Avenue, police said.

A Suffolk County Police helicopter airlifted the motorcyclist, whom they did not identify, to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he is being treated.

Carrion-Maura was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue to be treated for minor injuries, the police said.

Both vehicles were impounded and will undergo safety checks as the investigation continues.
