A pickup truck driver, with the sun temporarily in his eyes, accidentally backed into two blind pedestrians in Ronkonkoma on Tuesday, Suffolk police said.

The pedestrians, one of whom is also deaf, were struck as the driver was backing out of a spot about 3:36 p.m. in the lot of the Associated Beverage and Delicatessen on Julia Goldbach Avenue.

The victims sustained minor injuries and were taken to Brookhaven Memorial hospital, a police spokeswoman said. No charges were expected to be filed against the driver of the pickup truck, a 2003 Chevrolet.
