Suffolk County arson and Brookhaven officials are investigating a fire that broke out early Sunday in the garage of a house in Mount Sinai.

There were no injuries.

According to a police report, the blaze happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Hickory Street off Canal Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the garage, which is attached to a two-story home, fully involved and requested assistance from Port Jefferson Ambulance, Port Jefferson Fire Department, Miller Place Fire Department and Sound Beach Fire Department, the report said.

Police said the fire quickly spread from the garage to the home and it is unknown if any occupants were inside at the time.

A car in the garage “was reduced to ash and rubble,” the report said.

Police said the fire was under control about 3:45 a.m. and the investigation is being conducted by the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad and Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal’s Office.
