Mount Sinai man killed in Smithtown car crash

A Mount Sinai teen was killed yesterdayin an early morning one-car accident in Smithtown that injured the driver and two other passengers, Suffolk police said.
Jonathan Havlicek, 19, was in the backseat of a 1988 Mercedes traveling east on Middle Country Road around 3:30 a.m. when the driver, Krystle Rivera, lost control and slammed into a tree, causing the car to overturn, police said.
Rivera, 23, of Selden, and the other two passengers were treated for injuries believed not to be life-threatening at Stony Brook University Medical Center, police said.
Sgt. John Twiname said police did not immediately know if anyone was wearing a seat belt when the car crashed.
Police said alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
Suffolk detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
