A man was killed after his vehicle went off the road and into the woods in Mount Sinai, Suffolk County police said. (Oct. 13, 2013) Credit: David Rubin

A Mount Sinai man was killed on Sunday morning when his vehicle went off the road and into the woods, Suffolk County police said.

Police said they received a call shortly after 7 a.m. reporting a vehicle that went into the woods from the northbound lanes of County Road 83, a quarter-mile south of Canal Road in Mount Sinai.

The victim was identified as John Lamberta, 61. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said no other vehicles were involved in the crash, and the investigation is continuing.
