Two people were injured, one seriously, after a multivehicle accident Sunday in Selden, Suffolk police said.

Augustina Daredakis, 80, of Port Jefferson Station, whose car was struck as she was driving south on Dare Road, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where police officials said she is being treated for "serious injuries."

Kimberly Tarantino, 23, of Cedarhurst Avenue in Selden, whose car struck Daredakis, also was taken to Stony Brook, where she was treated for "non-life-threatening injuries," police said.

Police officials said Daredakis was turning left onto the eastbound lane of Middle Country Road when her 2001 Honda was struck by Tarantino's 2011 Kia, which was heading west. The accident occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m.

A 1989 BMW traveling east on Middle Country Road was struck by Daredakis' car, police said. The driver of the BMW, Antonio Santiago, 70, of Abinet Court in Selden, was not injured, police said.

The cars were impounded for safety checks and Sixth Squad detectives are investigating, police said, but a police spokeswoman said no criminality was involved.
