N.J. divers to resume search for missing Amityville man
Divers were expected Monday to help look for an Amityville man who went missing over the weekend while swimming off an unprotected shore of a central New Jersey beach, the local chief of police said.
The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office was likely to send out a dive team later in the day, said Stephen Carasia, chief of police of Deal, N.J., to look for Joshua Nevarez, 29, who disappeared about 4:30 p.m. Saturday while swimming with a friend. "A lot depends on the weather," Carasia said, "because storms are already coming through."
Carasia said state police sent a search helicopter to Colts Beach Monday, and police from his department patrolled the beach.
