N.J. man found dead in Centereach pool
A New Jersey man died after he was found unconscious at the bottom of a backyard swimming pool in Centereach Sunday morning, Suffolk police said.
Marco Rodriguez-Bravo, 35, of Elizabeth, N.J., had been at a family party at the Carriage Lane home of his cousin on Saturday night, Det. Sgt. Thomas Groneman said.
On Sunday morning at about 6:30 a.m., a relative looked out of the window of the home and saw Rodriguez-Bravo lying motionless at the bottom of the pool. He was wearing a bathing suit, and his clothes had been placed on the side of the pool.
Family members pulled him out of the water and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him until rescuers arrived, police said. Rodriguez-Bravo was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7:26 a.m.
It is unknown how long Rodriguez-Bravo was in the pool, Groneman said. He was last seen alive at 2 a.m. Sunday by his cousin. Groneman said his family reported that he was not a very good swimmer.
Police are investigating the incident, but Groneman said no criminality is suspected.
