A Nesconset man was struck and killed Saturday in an early morning car accident in Ronkonkoma, Suffolk County police said.

Robert Puerta, 25, was walking in the southbound lane of Ocean Avenue, about 150 feet north of Michigan Street, when he was hit by a 2007 Cadillac Escalade at 2:07 a.m., police said.

Puerta was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center and later pronounced dead at 2:50 a.m.

The driver of the Cadillac, William King, 63, of Middle Island, was not injured in the incident. A Suffolk County police spokeswoman said King is not facing any criminal charges in connection with the crash.
