New Suffolk school district
VOTING
3 to 9 p.m. at New Suffolk School.
THE BUDGET
The district proposes a $1,109,769.69 budget for 2015-16, a 2.66 percent decrease from the current $1,140,039.46. The local tax levy would rise 1.58 percent, from $777,250 to $789,500.
The tax levy figure is within the state's tax-cap limit of 2.169 percent, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget.
The district did not provide the school tax paid on the average single-family home because final assessment information was not available from the county.
The proposed budget cuts one teaching position. Teacher salary increases are estimated subject to negotiations.
