Five days before Cheryl Felice's July 1 exit as president of Suffolk County's largest union, she was hired as deputy administrator of its benefit fund for up to $54,000 a year.

Dan Farrell, who unseated Felice as Association of Municipal Employees president, has slammed her hiring, demanded it be rescinded and threatened to sue to keep her from getting paid.

The fund's board, made up of administration appointees and Felice-backed union appointees, voted 6-0 to give her a contract through November 2015. Farrell's new union executive board has named replacement trustees, but fund board chairman Jeff Tempera said three members have time left on their terms. Felice also returns to her $79,900-a-year senior fingerprint technician job in the sheriff's department. -- Rick Brand
