Regina Calcaterra's exit as chief deputy to Suffolk Executive Steve Bellone is not the only new-year shift in the administration.

Sammy Chu, county labor commissioner who got high marks for getting the Operation Step program in place after superstorm Sandy, will add a new title, director of operations. Chu will be in charge of coordinating interdepartmental operations, such as the county's recidivism project and the Connect Long Island transit initiative.

Meanwhile Paul Margiotta, who is acting county attorney and acting director of labor relations, will become the full-time head of the county's new traffic violations bureau, which begins operation April 1.-- Rick Brand
