A disabled child was pinned but escaped injury after a one-vehicle accident on the Long Island Expressway in the Brentwood area Wednesday afternoon, the Suffolk County sheriff's office said.

The accident occurred just after 1:30 p.m. The child was pinned in a green minivan, but neither the child nor the driver were injured, the spokesman said.

The accident disrupted traffic between Exits 53 and 55 as a medevac helicopter was called in to take the child to a hospital as a precaution, the spokesman said.
