A single engine aircraft with only the pilot on board made a wheels-up landing early Saturday afternoon at Republic Airport, but there were no injuries, an airport spokesman said.

The East Farmingdale airport was closed for a "brief period of time" Saturday while the aircraft was removed from the runway, the spokesman said. The aircraft was brought back to a tie-down area.

The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the circumstances of the wheels-up landing and issue a report "in due time," the spokesman said.

The spokesman did not identify the pilot.
