A North Haven man was charged Wednesday in the theft of kayaks, outboard motors and other marine equipment after missing equipment was found at his home, Southampton Town Police said.

After a three-week investigation by Southampton police, Damien Tooman, 32, of 5 East Dr., was arrested on charges of criminal possession of stolen property after town police and bay constables executed a search warrant at his home, police said.

Police said they also found a boat motor and trailer, a personal watercraft and tools from area construction sites.

Tooman was held overnight and was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at Southampton Town Justice Court.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information can call police, 631-728-3400, or the crime-tips hotline, 631-728-3454.
